2. OUR MISSION… In the Science Department at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is to provide safe laboratory environments for our students, faculty, and staff. The ABAC Sciences Laboratory Safety Policies and Procedures along with OSHA policies are enforced to keep our laboratory facilities, students, faculty and staff safe.

OUTFIT: WHAT TO WEAR The lab teacher, laboratory coordinators, Science Department Head, and the Dean of the School of Science and Mathematics have the overall authority of determining if an outfit is appropriate based on the ABAC Sciences Laboratory Safety Policies and Procedures. If an article of clothing or outfit is deemed inappropriate, the student will be asked to change or will receive a grade of a zero for that lab period. Students will not be allowed to enter the lab if dressed inappropriately.

14. PANTS: WHAT NOT TO WEAR Leggings or similar items of tight-fitting clothing are not allowed to be worn in the laboratory. Leggings are typically a blend of nylon, polyester, and spandex/lycra, which are not recommended when working with chemicals and/or fire.

23. LABORATORY PROCEDURES

29. GLASSWARE SAFETY Handle glassware carefully and properly. Place cracked, broken, chipped, or shattered glassware in the Broken Glassware Container. Contact instructor if glassware is broken. Refer to the equipment replacement agreement for fees for broken glassware and equipment.
