I want to go out for EFMB. How do I get a slot? Who is authorized to be awarded the EFMB? Officers must be assigned or detailed to an AMEDD corps. This includes Army officers in training at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. It also includes Army officers enrolled in the Health professions Scholarship program. Warrant officers must have an AMEDD primary MOS controlled by The Surgeon General. Warrant officer pilots with a “D” special qualifications identifier (Aeromedical Evacuation Pilot) and assigned to an air ambulance unit are also eligible. Enlisted personnel must have an AMEDD primary MOS or MOS 18D. This includes all MOSs in the 68-CMF. What qualifications/paperwork is required to go out to EFMB? Ensure the following are completed correctly/current IAW AMEDDC&S Pam & EFMB Website: Commander’s Recommendation Memo: See EFMB website. Figure 2-2 of AMEDDC&S Pam example has changed. APFT Scorecard: Passed within 6 months of EFMB test end date. No alternate events authorized. Weapon Qualification Card: Qualified within 1 year of EFMB test end date. CPR Certification Card/Memo: Valid through the EFMB test end date. What do I need to bring to EFMB? All equipment listed in Table 2-2 of AMEDDC&S Pam Make sure everything is operational and serviceable See the MOI or Candidate Letter put out by the unit hosting the EFMB for any additional required items and guidance Some sites may require you to bring your M16A2/M4, protective mask, cot, etc. while other sites may issue this equipment on site Expert Field Medical Badge Test Control Office

What additional items should I bring? Baby wipes Personal hygiene items (i.e. toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, razors, shaving cream, tampons, towel, washcloth, flip flops, etc.) Rags to clean weapon, mask, boots, etc. Weapon cleaning kit Extra batteries for flashlight Extra ink pens and paper Extra t-shirts, socks, under garments, etc. Expert Field Medical Badge Test Control Office

What additional items should I bring (Cont)? Sleeping bag/mat, poncho liner, Cold/Wet weather gear Extra protractors and mechanical pencils, small clipboard, 3 x 5 cards, and zip lock bags (land nav). An extra compass is a good idea too. The unit I’m assigned to isn’t issued some of the equipment listed on the packing list and/or MOI. What do I do? It is you and your chain of command’s responsibility to obtain all required items For CIF issued items, have your CDR sign a memo listing required items & reason needed. Take memo to CIF. For other items, make contact with a local TOE unit or other unit who has these items organic to them (i.e. M291 Kit, Chemical Light Stick) If problems, contact EFMB host unit prior Expert Field Medical Badge Test Control Office

I don’t have the new molle system, LBE, ballistic helmet, etc. Can I use the older versions that were issued to me? Yes you can. If you were issued any of the older equipment (i.e. LBV, ruck, kelvar helmet, etc.), these can be used in lieu of the new equipment. My chain of command told me that I will be trained for EFMB when I get to the site. Is this true? This is one of the biggest misconceptions out there when it comes to EFMB. No you won’t. It is your chain of command’s responsibility to train you prior to EFMB testing. You will receive “standardization” on how EFMB testing will be conducted If you don’t train prior to EFMB, the probability of you earning the badge is low, but possible Expert Field Medical Badge Test Control Office

My chain of command doesn’t conduct any EFMB training. What can I do to get ready? You’re not alone. Unfortunately, many units out there don’t train their Soldiers prior to going to EFMB. Check with other local units to see if they are doing any training and try to piggyback on it Visit the EFMB Web Site for advise, training tips, references, and other EFMB Material. What will the living conditions be like when I go out to EFMB? You will sleep in some form of tent during testing, which may or may not have lights or heat/AC. They may house you in a building in a field site. You will probably have Porta-Lets for bathrooms You may or may not get any showers or only one/two the whole time you are out at EFMB You will normally get hot breakfast and dinner with MRE’s for lunch Expert Field Medical Badge Test Control Office
