Leaps and Bounds-The concept... Tumble Tots faced a constantly increasing demand from both Nurseries and Mums to provide a movement and physical development programme. Patricia Maude MBE, Homerton College, Cambridge University Leaps & Bounds was conceived to fulfil this demand. The programme was researched and developed over two years working closely with : Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage (Q.C.A., DfEE)

Progressively Developing Skills in accordance with Government Guidelines What is Leaps and Bounds ? Leaps and Bounds is a progressive physical and movement programme for children from Walking to 5 years, designed to complement the indoor and outdoor physical activities provided by Nursery Schools Children are encouraged through a sequence of tasks to develop skills including: locomotion, agility, balance, climbing and co-ordination.

Leaps and Bounds and the Foundation Stage Leaps and Bounds was originally designed to underpin the ‘Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage’. It has recently been updated to fulfill The Early Years Foundation Stage framework with emphasis on the following:- Effective learning involves; –moving with control –moving with confidence and safety –showing awareness of space and others –using a range of large and small equipment –improving co-ordination –taking part in energetic activities

Leaps & Bounds – Age Groups Walking – 2 years 2-3 years 3-School Age Leaps & Bounds caters for children from Walking to 5 years. The programme is split into 3 age groups : The programme for each age group is specifically designed to suit the skill level of the children within their particular age range.

How does Leaps & Bounds work? Adaptable yearly lesson plans to fit in with your school timetable. 5 blocks of activities– red, yellow, green, blue, purple each with specific learning objectives that are reinforced and revised. Each activity has specific teaching points and progressions to help the child improve. Involvement with parents. Each child is given objectives and suggested activities to enjoy at home together at the beginning of each block. At the end of every session each child will receive an achievement sticker (e.g. I can jump) in line with the set objectives At the end of every block, each child will receive a certificate outlining what they have achieved At the end of all the blocks for that year there is a celebration of achievement.Each child will receive a medal

Lesson Plans for Children Aged 2-3 Years To help with communication for this age group we have introduced visual guides. Children of this age group respond positively to visual signals. The use of language only can present barriers to communication. Leaps & Bounds Assurance for Parents Opportunity for their child to further develop physical and motor skills in their own Nursery, complementing the Nursery’s provision of physical play. Leaps & Bounds programme delivered by trained instructors in physical activity for children under 5 years. Objective cards and home activities help parents to get involved in their child’s physical and movement development.

Complementing Nurseries’ provision of physical activity. Leaps & Bounds programme is a skills development programme underpinning The Early Years Foundation Stage. Staff delivering Leaps & Bounds programme, are experienced and assessed by our team of trainers. We actively encourage feedback from Nurseries.

Leaps & Bounds – specifications Sessions are 30 mins, once a week 4 to 12 children per session; 16 in the 3+ session. Leaps and Bounds instructor with nursery staff support to suit ratios. Room must have clear area space of 15ft X 15ft. Cost is on an average from £4 per session per child and is dependant on class size and number of sessions in the nursery.

500 CENTERS ACROSS THE UK - Tumble Tots is a structured, active physical play programme for children from 6 months to 7 years. We’ve been developing motor skills and confidence through physical activity since 1979 and as UK market leaders have a national network of over 500 centers. About Tumble Tots OVER 50,000 MEMBERS - Each week around 50,000 children are encouraged to develop not only balance, agility and co-ordination but also the essential listening and language skills so useful in school and in later life. Each activity session combines fun, excitement and challenge in a safe and caring environment. SPECIALLY TRAINED STAFF - All sessions use unique equipment and are run by Leaders specially trained to get the best out of your child. TARGETTED AGE GROUPS - Children are carefully graded into 5 separate age groups: Gymbabes - Crawling to Walking. Tumble Tots – Walking to Two Years Tumble Tots – Two to Three Years Tumble Tots – Three Years to School Age Gymbobs – School Age to Seven Years PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT - Parents are present at the Centers and involved in the activities for the first three age groups. All activities are structured so they are appropriate for the stages of a child's development.
