2 February 14 2011 Dr Burns, CMO, opened our Conference around promoting children and YP mental & emotional wellbeing – he referred to the results of 2 Health Visitors & the Asset Based Approach in Falmouth February 15 2011 Health Promotion emailed Hazel Stutely OBE to see if she would be happy to share what she did in Falmouth Asset Based Approach in Clackmannanshire ~ the journey so far February 16 2011 Hazel Stutely replied enthusiastically cc’ing in the Violence Reduction Unit in Glasgow. VRU very keen to support asset based approach in Clackmannanshire. 3 possible areas identified to start from: Sauchie, Tullibody, Alloa South & East. February 22 2011 Ian Morris from Violence Reduction Unit gave a presentation to the Community Safety Partnership meeting about the work the VRU are involved in including the Asset Based Approach

3 March 4 2011 2 Health Promotion staff attended a Partnership event in Onthank, Kilmarnock to observe how the Asset Based Approach is being started there March 11- April 1 2011 Several meetings each building on the other – bringing new people around the table in relation to taking forward the Asset Based Approach in Clackmannanshire Asset Based Approach in Clackmannanshire ~ the journey so far April 28 2011 Wider group meeting with TSI - agreed to look at Hawkhill, Bowmar and Mar Policies areas. June 10 2011 1 st Operational Group meeting with Hazel Stutely present

4 Rationale for Clackmannanshire NHS interest due to Dr Harry Burns talk at the 14 th February Conference + Active Community Safety Partnership group already linking in with National Violence Reduction Unit + Strategic assessment by partners had recently been completed ( ie NHS, fire, police, education) 3 areas of greatest need were identified

5 Management Structure Clackmannanshire Alliance & all subgroups –NHS Forth Valley ~ Clackmannanshire CHP –Clackmannanshire Council services –Police –Fire –Third Sector Interface Ltd Formation of a Strategic Group Formation of an Operational Group Formation of Data Group Dialogue with –Alcohol Focus Scotland, –National Violence Reduction Unit, –Inspiring Scotland, –People in Hawkhill, Mar Policies and Bowmar

6 Asset Mapping (so far) People Local groups and Services Schools / nurseries Community centres Sports clubs

7 Gave a really good “snapshot” – increased understanding and knowledge of the people and the area Willingness of residents to work collectively to support their community Start to build trust and networks Enables progress to happen quickly Informal walkabout (25 th May)

8 Next steps Seek continued support from Strategic group on 28 th July Continue talking to people Knock on doors Listening events Training for staff & community with Hazel Stutely O.B.E Local data collection group continuing to source baseline data Informing and maintaining support from all Partners Build capacity and confidence of community groups to address the issues in their community Support a Scottish Network & Steering Group for asset based approach work in Scotland
