1. Christmas decorations exchange 2014 Scuola primaria “ Giovanni Paolo II ” - Maleo - Italy

2. Dear friends, we are the pupils of the “ Giovanni Paolo II” primary school of Maleo, in Italia in the province of Lodi, near Milan.

3. Our school is big, built on two floors : there are five classes, nine sections. Lessons start at 8.30 in the morning and finish at 16.30 in the afternoon.

4. We study lots of subjects: Italian language, English language, maths, science, history, geography, arts, music, sports and Catholic Religion, that is an optional subject.

5. Maleo is not too big, there nearly 3.400 inhabitants and it’s in the Pianura Padana. There are five schools: three nurseries, a primary school and a secondary school. There’s also a castle: the Trecchi castle! There’s a big and beautiful church,with a belltower that is one of the tallest of the province!

6. Maleo,during the Christmas time, changes a lot! Streets are full of lights and decorations, some people make the nativity scene in the square near the church; there also a cribs exhibition in the Trecchi ’ s villa, that is the place where the secondary school is.

7. Even at school Christmas time is special: we decorate the classroom, we make Advent calendars : they have got 25 little windows and you can open one a day from the 1st of December until Christmas day! We learn songs, balls, poems and recital for the Christmas show!

8. We usually spend Christmas time in our families: we open presents, we put Jesus little statue in the crib, we have the Eve dinner or the Christmas lunch with all the family! A traditional Christmas food is cotechino e lenticchie! We have some traditional cakes and sweets for Christmas: the panettone, the pandoro and the torrone!!! They are very good!
