2 The HA3 social entrepreneurial mission is twofold: it strives to improve the viable and sustainable livelihood of rural Moroccan communities, while maintaining an eco-friendly approach to economic growth. © High Atlas Agriculture and Artisanal

3 HA 3 -HAF builds green economies by establishing: 1. Provincial Cooperatives focused on organic agriculture and participatory development – united in a national Network 2. Tree (walnuts & almonds) & medicinal plant nurseries & irrigation 3. Training in organic methods & project management 4. Value processing & organic certification 5. Projects in human development (through investment of a portion of net profits) © High Atlas Agriculture and Artisanal

4 The Business and the People: – HA 3 will deliver to consumers an organic, Fair Trade and carbon neutral product with added value. – 75% of rural households earning less than the national average – HA3 will increase household incomes by 400% over 5 years The Market: – HA 3 will distribute nationally for experience, and then export. – HA 3 will provide stock in bulk to a limited number of retail suppliers. © High Atlas Agriculture and Artisanal

5 Business Drivers and Risks: Driver: US-Moroccan free trade agreement, favorable status with the EU and regionally. Competitive advantage: Morocco is one of six almond-producing countries Risk: Drop in global organic prices of walnut and almond combined with a rise in Moroccan domestic prices. Demand : Global demand and prices of almonds and walnuts have doubled over the past 11 years. © High Atlas Agriculture and Artisanal

9 Needs for support: – Coaching: HA 3 -HAF welcomes technical support with organic certification audits, biomass energy production,. – Networking: HA 3 -HAF seeks partnerships with international buyers of organic products, now with almond and walnut purchasers. Funding Requirement: – In 2014, HA 3 will purchase from Coop farmers 200,000 kg of unshelled certified organic walnuts, valued at $650,000; and 50 tons of unshelled almonds valued at $80,000.
