2 What are herbaceous plants? 1. Plants that do not develop woody material e.g. Sedum, Iris 2. Summer/Autumn – flower and give colour 3. Winter – die back and are in dormant state at or below ground level 4. Spring – produce new stems and leaves 5. Herbaceous plants can withstand winter frost and damp

3 Achillea – Achillea millifolium Full sun Well drained soil Flower - white, or sometimes pinkish Leaves - feathery, long and narrow

4 Red hot poker – Kniphofia ‘green jade’ Sunny site Well drained soil Colour - Red / yellow spikes Height : 24 – 60 inches

5 Ice plant – Sedum spectabile Sunny site Well drained soil Flowers - White or reddish pink colour Height – 15 – 18 inches
