Begin with Students Our job in the University is to create programs to expose students to complex social and cultural issues through: Community visits, Experiential learning, Direct service, Group discussion, Readings, Reflection activities Transform students into advocates of social change on issues affecting our communities.

Social Responsibility Challenge: Seeking solutions. Educating Leaders. We live in an increasingly interconnected world that faces complex problems on a global scale. People, goods, and ideas can circle the planet at great speed and with unprecedented ease. But so can disease, pollution, and violence. In the face of these profound challenges, we also see possibilities. We have the opportunity and the obligation to bring our full resources to bear in addressing issues facing humanity. We must embrace the central role we play in educating tomorrow's leaders. Seeking solutions. Educating Leaders. This is your mission.

How can you make your challenge a reality? Building on lessons learned. Secure support from your leadership. While grassroots efforts can work, vision and resources (people and financial) are key. Start with a proven model. Working with other universities and consulting firms to ensure you see initial success. Form a cross-department team. Utilize the strength of the University to build a multi- discipline approach to social responsibility. Start locally.

Your Challenge – What is your mission? Tonight, answer these questions: What are you prepared to do? Should your role focus on Research? Working with local business leaders? The community? Equity in education? What is your vision of how you may improve the daily lives and empower your local community through the concept of Social Responsibility? Choose one impact area and develop a brief list of actions/solutions.
