Single Point of Referral Simple for learners Simple for referring agencies Removes duplicate waiting lists Posters translated into 30+ languages advertise how to access service Inquiry forms and leaflets translated into Polish, Portuguese and Russian and widely available Awareness raising training: libraries, CLD, Careers, Job Centre Plus Information available in several formats, including www.newtotheborders.co.ukwww.newtotheborders.co.uk

Joint Initial Assessment Assessments carried out in major Borders towns on a rolling programme Choice of times offered if possible and piloting parallel childcare Have staged assessments in hotels, nursing homes as well as community venues to increase accessibility Reading, writing and spoken tasks to determine level Learners invited to join group at most appropriate level

Stakeholder Feedback Telephone Survey Feb 2009 – More frequent initial assessments More choice of time to attend assessments Childcare provision with assessments Partners feedback - More provision, especially in Berwickshire Increase range of provision eg intensive summer course, SCQF Level 5, non-accredited courses Reduce waiting times
