13 So, why I became involved in the development of a new industry strategy and why I think it’s important for the industry......... INTRODUCTION

15 THE CONCEPT An action plan responding to the strategy and will be updated annually. The plan defines what actions and tasks will be undertaken in the short, medium and long term and by whom. The actions need to be achievable. The plan is crucial to ensure the vision is achieved and the strategy is delivered. HOW IT WILL WORK Over the last few months 6 workshops were held throughout Scotland which helped to identify the actions. Construction Scotland will work with the appropriate bodies to develop common wins. Relationships will continue to be developed where they don’t currently exist. So far there’s been strong commitment to work with the industry but we need to continue to show commitment.

16 WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE The action plan will include the critical actions to be achieved in year 1. It will detail which organisation has lead responsibility for each action. And how progress will be measured. IN PRACTICE Developing a safer, successful and forward looking construction industry. Driving innovation and productivity across the industry. Working in partnership to deliver a Low Carbon Built Environment. Building a dynamic, united industry with a cohesive voice.

18 .......so in summary Priorities short, medium and long term objectives. Establish quick wins. Theme groups can drive actions to conclusion, collating and sharing best practise. Actions should change the game and improve our performance. Actions should be challenging to both industry and government. Ownership of the agreed Action Plan must be industry wide, this is our plan our chance to make a difference.
