Up to 20% of people are estimated to have a Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) such as dyslexia.
3
Many people have heard of dyslexia, but are unaware of other SLDs that can impact people just as much!
4
“I could be anyone” SLDs are sometimes referred to as ‘hidden disabilities’ because often it’s not obvious someone has one.
5
“If you’re going to judge the cover, you better read the book” People joke they have ‘dyslexia’ when they misspell a word, but is that all dyslexia is? Actually, SLD affects a person’s reading, writing, spelling, organisational skills and memory. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t smart! They just learn differently!
