Sharps and Flats # = sharp, raises a pitch one half step b = flat, lowers a pitch one half step # = sharp, raises a pitch one half step b = flat, lowers a pitch one half step

Knowing the chromatic scale allows you to find any note on the guitar neck by “counting” chromatically. Try it!
