Making room for a guest at our table. Setting The Table

History: Concern America was founded in Stockton, CA in 1972 and shares roots with another organization, Concern, located in Ireland. The founders were Fr. Michael Doheny, Sean O’Farrell, Paul Fairbrook, & Raymond Kennedy.

Concern America’s Goal: “To provide training, technical assistance and/or material support to people in lesser-developed countries who require assistance as a result of natural disaster, civil disruption, forced migration, discrimination or historically-rooted poverty. The primary emphasis is to encourage self reliance through programs in public health, nutrition, sanitation, and economic and agricultural development.” --From the By-Laws of Concern America

Hosting A Dinner: Setting the Table is a fun and easy way to get family and friends involved in the work of Concern America and raise money to help support the field projects.

How it Works: You host a meal, inviting friends using the printed invitations provided by Concern America. The invitation asks each invited guest to donate what he/she might spend taking a guest to dinner.

What We Provide You: A wooden bowl and spoon (made by health promoters in a Concern America project) to set at an empty place at your table, representing those in our world in material need A placemat for each guest, with a photo and information about the country where the person represented by the empty place lives A collection basket Printed invitations for you to send to your guests Information about the work of Concern America
