Some deserts are found by mountains and are caused by rain shadow effect as air moves over the mountain range so it loses ability to hold moisture

Deserts are very hot in the day time. It usually is a 100 degrees Fahrenheit, but at night the same desert can have temperatures fall into the 40s or 50s.

It is sandy and mostly dry and has very few trees.
