5 Temporary Rules Adopted for the 2007-08 Season 1.Commercial fishing vessels allowed to retrieve derelict ocean Dungeness crab gear inseason (effective 12/11/07 – 8/28/08) 2.Allow for early replacement of up to 10% (effective 12/14/07) 3.Limited derelict gear retrieval project (2/25/08 – 8/28/08) 4.Increased the number of derelict pots allowed from 6 to 50 (6/11/08 – 8/28/08)

6 Buoy Tag Replacement 4,202 buoy tags were replaced during the 2007-08 season Buoy tag replacement options with submission of signed declaration of loss. 1.Up to 10% replaced after the first 30 days of the season 2.Catastrophic Loss (Fire, Capsizing, or Sinking) 3.Extraordinary Event (Director’s decision)

7 Catch and Value of the Dungeness fishery since 1947 As of the end of July, over 12 million pounds have been landed into Oregon with a total value of over $29 million for the 2007-08 season.

9 Makeup of the Dungeness crab fleet: 432 Limited Entry Permits (Fishery went LE in 1995) 300 -350 are active any given season ( 312 Oregon permits made landings this season)
