Homework for next class Read Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, “The General Prologue” 213-38 Note: easy-to-read translations are on our class website Do the Chaucer Reading Response Question Prepare your brief group activity (see next slide) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Think about the Chaucer reading questions posted online They’re under “course documents” on the “The Middle English Period” page. There will be a Quiz on Wednesday The answers to half the questions are on pages 213-218. The answers to the other half come from pages 218-38 in the story. They are related to memorable details; focus on these characters: the Knight, Squire, Nun (Prioress), the Monk, the Friar, the Wife of Bath, the Parson, and the Pardoner.

Group Activity Today, everyone will be given a group number. Next class groups will meet, prepared with answers to these basic questions: 1. In your own words, briefly describe the character (s) you were assigned. 2. Point to some quotes from the text to support your overall assessment of the character (s). 3.
