Ambient Flocking
2
What the flock? Concept To Transform auditory presence within a space into a collaborative and evolving abstract visualisation. This is achieved through transforming the audio within a space into an affecter of a flock of ambient lights displayed inside the space.
3
Get flocked! Context Meaning is brought to the space by means of encouraging creativity in a place of design. Active and passive collaboration as a reflection of personal presence in the space as a whole, influences the piece. Brings meaning to the activity within the space visually Encourages collaboration through interaction Shows how people are part of the space Reflects the mood of the space Notion of ethnomethodology mentioned in Dourish's article (2001) Paradiso (2003) suggestions of playfulness and practicality Wisneski (1998) discusses improving our ability to collaborate and coordinate with those around us.

Fan-Flocking-Tastic Technical Details Flock of particles that leave trails Audio from the four microphones influences the movement of the particles such that: –The mic with the loudest signal would be the main influencer upon the position of the particles; the other mics would also have an effect (although lesser) upon the overall result –Louder ambient noise would increase the speed of movement, and flocking separation –Softer ambient noise would decrease the speed of movement, and flocking separation –Audio would be broken up into several frequencies
