1. ELDERSHIP 1 PET. 5:1-5 Sunday 16 th February 2014

2. AS AN ELDER WILL YOU: Seek to grow in your gift of leadership to lead in grace and knowledge – giving yourself first to the Lord and then to the church? Model a lifestyle of Jesus as an under- shepherd of this flock, in humility and servanthood releasing, in unity, the whole body? Oversee the flock and encourage the struggler and the weak and timid as well as fighting off wolves and bringing discipline?

3. AS AN ELDER WILL YOU: In good times and bad to set the flock an example in faith, love and purity, to feed and nourish these sheep to God given maturity? Resist leadership by consensus or control, leadership that seeks to gain material wealth or has man-pleasing at its centre?

4. AS AN ELDER WILL YOU: Work as part of a team, honouring one another, and releasing each other, including following your lead elder’s lead? Will you live in the light of “two days”: – This day – giving yourself to lead this church? – That day – when the chief shepherd appears and you receive a crown that will never fade?
