Hopi houses(adobe) were made of mud and stones (dry-clay) The houses had small windows for letting air in. They had ladders to get to higher stories on their houses The lower part of the house was called the “Kivas”

The Hopi lived in the Southwest region of North America. They have lived there for thousands of years. The climate was very dry there

Hopi beliefs: The Hopi believed that they were the care- takers of this “Fourth World” in exchange for living here. There way of living was to maintain balance between nature and people. They were known for being a peaceful people

Women wore a un-dyed cotton robe with an embroidered belt Men wore a un-dyed strait sleeved or sleeveless that was worn like a poncho. That’s a JOKE

The Hopi grew things like corn and beans and hunted deer and antelopes for meat. The Hopi “ Wuuti”(women) were to stay home and cook meals for the family, tribe and others in the village who needed food. The “ Taaqa” (men) went hunting for “himu” (game) to bring back to cook.

Most Hopis today speak English. They retain and continue to practice their traditional ceremonial culture. They also continue to battle the U.S. government for the return of their native lands.
