Vectors History Heritage Dates Back to the 1940s & 50s
Began as Okanagan Helicopters (formerly Okanagan Air Services) Okanagan Acquired by Canadian Helicopters Corporation (CHC) CHC Formed its MRO Business, ACRO Aerospace CHC Transformed its MRO Business forming Vector Aerospace Corporation 2008 – Vector Acquired the UK MoD’s Defence Aviation Repair Agency 2008 – Rebranded all Operating Division as Vector Aerospace 2011 – Vector Acquired by Eurocopter Holdings-Subsidiary of EADS now know as Airbus Helicopters Independent MRO Provider The nearly 70 year history of Vector Aerospace dates back to the late 1940s and 50s. We began as Okanagan Helicopters in Forty years later in 1987, Okanagan was purchased by Canadian Helicopters Corporation or CHC. In 1990 CHC formed it’s R&O business and named it ACRO Aerospace. Then in 1998, CHC transferred its overhaul business consisting of ACRO Aerospace, Atlantic Turbines, and Sigma Aerospace, into a new wholly owned CHC subsidiary called Vector Aerospace Cooperation. Later that year, CHC sold 80% of Vector Aerospace through an IPO offering. Ten years later in 2008, Vector acquired the United Kingdoms Ministry of Defence – Defence Aviation Repair Agency or DARA. located in Fleetlands England and Almondbank Scotland. This acquisition greatly reinforced Vectors military R&O market especially within the UK and Europe. Later in 2008 Vector rebranded all it existing divisions under the Vector Aerospace umbrella. No name changes in over 6 years. Then in 2011, Vector Aerospace was acquired by Eurocopter Holdings which is a subsidiary of EADS now know as Airbus Helicopters. Although Vector is a division or Eurocopter Holdings, we are an independent MRO provider remaining under the Vector Aerospace brand.
