Fine Arts Program rated Recognized At Victoria Heights we had a variety of fine arts events throughout the year from our Christmas Programs which was a success for our community and parents to our U.I.L, which our students and coaches put all their time and effort to do their very best. This year Victoria Heights place 3 rd place in overall performance in U.I.L competitions. Victoria Heights Elementary

Wellness and Physical Education Programs rated Exemplary In order for our students and employees to stay healthy and fit here at Victoria Heights and the BISD Wellness Center offer a variety of activities that faculty, staff, and students can participate. This year some of our staff participated in the Districts Frisbee tournament and placed 1 st place while placing 3 rd in Men’s Basketball League. One of our successes this year at our campus was our 1 st annual Toys for Tots which was used not only to provide Wellness and Physical Education to our campus but also to raise toys for our needy students. Community and Parental Involvement rated Exemplary At Victoria Heights we always aim at increasing our parental involvement. For 2013-2014 one of our initiatives and great successes was our TPRI/ Tejas Lee MOY and EOY meetings, where parents got the opportunity to come and meet with teachers to look at data. Teachers got the opportunity to share some make and take activities with parents to take home and work with their children. This should help our future students do better on STAAR assessments. 21 st Century Workforce Development rated Exemplary Victoria Heights participated in Career an wheels where the students were very excited about learning about the different careers that 10 of our community leaders came to present. One of their favorite was the emergency helicopter which made a landing at our school grounds. Victoria Heights Elementary

Second Language Acquisition Program Exemplary At Victoria Heights ELL students are provided with cultural awareness experiences and are provided tools to assist them in the development of the English Language. One of our initiatives implemented this year was our Fall and Spring Literacy Events. This events gave the community the opportunity to read to our students and for students to learn about their careers. Families were also given free books for them to start their libraries at home to instill the love for reading to our students. Victoria Heights Elementary

Dropout Prevention Strategies rated Exemplary The BISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent recognized the Victoria Heights as a top campus in student attendance during the 5th six weeks. Victoria Heights was the only Elementary school that was given this recognition. Victoria Heights Elementary

Digital Learning Environment rated Recognized Here at Victoria Heights we try year by year to keep up with infrastructures of the innovative technology initiatives. One of our initiatives that was fully implemented this year was our Live Announcements where students enjoyed being our News Anchors and where we are able to implement the District Vocabulary Initiative. Gifted and Talented Program rated Recognized Victoria Heights had 9% more students nominated for 2013-2014 school year from currently enrolled GT students. Some of these students participated in Science, UIL, and published on the Brownsville Herald Kids Speak. One of our goals for next year is to have more of our GT population participate in more showcase opportunities. Victoria Heights Elementary
