He spoke in a way that made the child think her grandmother was ill. That’s why he sounded different. Also, that character in the bed had very large eyes and ears, unlike her grandmother’s. Grandmother’s eyes were small, but the character in the bed had large scary eyes. But that isn’t all. His ears were huge, not one bit like human ears. Those scary eyes and ears would make a child want to run. But most important was what she noticed about his teeth. They were huge! Grandmother has little teeth, like everyone else’s.
