Teaching and awareness heightening of nursing and physiotherapy students to patients rights Belgium – Liège- domaine Provincial de Wégimont 21/3 – 5/4/2014

Main objectives of this Intensive program To improve the quality and increase the volume of students and teaching staff mobility throughout Europe; To improve the quality and to increase the volume of multilateral cooperation between higher education institutions in Europe; To increase the degree of transparancy and compatibility between higher education and advanced vocational education qualifications gained in Europe;

Main objectives of this Intensive program To improve the quality and to increase the volume of cooperation between higher education institutions and enterprises; To facilitate the development of innovative practices in education and training in a tertiary level, and their transfer, including from one participating country to others.

Main objectives of this Intensive program: HOW? This intensive program will meet the predefined objectives by: -Rassembling students from different institutions and heightning their awareness to mobility; -Intensifying the quality of international engagement of the different partners by exchanging good practices and teaching methods;

Main objectives of this Intensive program: HOW? Reinforcing the collaboration with the hospitals; Providing hospitals with futur healthcare workers more educated and more open to respect of patients rights; Permitting the participants to be more aware of interculturality.

Description of the project The Intensive Program will permit to heigthen a multinational group of students and teachers to the respect of the european patients rights chart by exchanging on practices enforced in each of the participating countries. It will permit to evaluate the suitability of practices held in each participating country (Belgium, Spain, Finland, Switzerland).

Description of the project Presentations by experts, multicultural and interdisciplinary workgroups and experiences exchanges will enhance: -The knowledges of the teachers regarding patients rights respect and application in Europe; -The knowledges of students, better prepared and sensitized to enter the workmarket.

Methodology The pedagogical and educational approaches are: -Invitation of experts: for ex: association of healthcare institutions mediators; -Workgroups with PBL method in English; -Meetings with healthcare practitioners; -Internet research; -A final report produced by each workgroup will be presented at the end of the program. A CD-Rom of all reports and pictures will be given to each partner; -Program will be credited with 5 ECTS.

Students selection Each partner is responsible for the selection of its own students! Concerned students must send a covering letter telling what is their interest in participating. The knowledge of English is mandatory! An interview must be conducted with the interested students. Each partner is invited to provide 3 students and 1 teacher in physiotherapy, 3 students and 1 teacher in nursing.
