1
DRAW NEAR TO GOD WITH FULL ASSURANCE IN FAITH
2
Hebrews 10:19-23- “Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new
3
and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us
4
draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having
5
our bodies washed with pure water. Let’s hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”
6
I. WE ARE INVITED TO BOLDLY DRAW NEAR TO GOD.
7
having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water
8
James 4:8-“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double- minded.”
9
It can mean that you have never asked Jesus to forgive your sins and be your Savior.
10
It can mean that there is unconfessed sin in your life as a believer that is hindering your access to draw near to God.
11
II. NOW WE CAN HAVE THE FAITH THAT DRAWS US NEAR.
12
“Let’s hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”
13
James 1:6-7-“But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
14
That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord;”
15
Luke 17:6-10 He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it
16
will obey you. Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field,
17
‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? Would he not rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after
18
that you may eat and drink’? Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? So you also, when you have done everything
19
you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”
20
First, the faith that we need to draw near to God and thus allow Him to work mightily in our lives is given to us in seed form.
21
Second, the teaching about the servant and master show us the right relationship between us and God in order for faith to reach its fullest potential.
22
ENDURING OBEDIENCE IS ALWAYS THE MARK OF TRUE FAITH.
