2 A Quick Quiz about the Nations of the World in 2011 By ‘nation’ we mean a country that is a member state of the United Nations in 2011. ‘Serbia and Montenegro’ appears here separately as ‘Serbia’ and ‘Montenegro’. Hong Kong, the Vatican City and Taiwan are not included. The question of what we mean by a nation and how we draw its borders is a politically fraught one! Given the list of population counts, what would you say the MEAN value would be (nearest million)? 33 500 000, so 33 or 34 million, about the size of Kenya or Canada. Russia (70 UKs).
