Objective: To write equations to represent relationships among integers

2 Problem Solving Consecutive Integers: Integers listed in natural order, that is, in order from least to greatest. An integer is represented by n Write the next three integers in natural order after n Write the integer that immediately precedes n Write an equation that states that the sum of four consecutive integers, starting with n, is 66

3 Problem Solving Consecutive Even: If you count by two’s beginning with any even integer, you obtain consecutive even integers Consecutive odd: If you count by two’s beginning with any odd integer, you obtain consecutive odd integers. In either case the equation is the same because we are expecting the variable we are trying to find to be either even (if looking for even) or odd (if looking for odd) n + (n + 2) + (n + 4)…

4 Problem Solving Solve over the given domain: The sum of three consecutive odd integers is 100 more than the smallest integer. What are the integers? Domain for the smallest integer: {27, 37, 47}

5 Problem Solving The sum of two consecutive integers is 49 The sum of three consecutive even integers is 306 The sum of three consecutive odd integers is 50 more than the smallest
