What Happened…Briefly Began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. This led to fighting between them, and then alliances came into play. Very soon, nearly all the countries of Europe were at war. In 1917 the US joins the side of the allies. Ended officially with the Treaty of Versailles June 28, 1919

The First Century plus of our country was a very difficult time. Many people gave their lives for us to have the things and opportunities that we have today. By the time the 1920s came around, the United States wanted to have some fun and not be at risk of being involved in a war.
