2 Thousands of tourists all over the world come to this big grey stone building to see the traditional ceremony of Changing the Guards. Buckingham Palace

3 The British Museum It is the largest and richest museum in the world. It was founded in 1753. It has mountains of books. It has a copy of every book published in this country.

4 These guards got their nickname during the time of famine. When Londoners suffered from hunger the guards were always given a ration of beef to keep them loyal to the crown. Beefeaters

5 Big Ben Tourists in London always want to visit …. They want to see the clock in its tower and to hear the bells. It is really a bell.

6 It is the Royal residence. It was built in 1703. There are nearly 600 rooms and 3 miles of red carpet in the palace. It is like a small town with a police station, a hospital, a bar, a cinema and a swimming pool. Buckingham Palace

7 Khedive Ishmael of Egypt gave this old Egyptian monument to Queen Victoria. It was brought to London in 1847. Cleopatra Needle

8 It began at 1.00 am on a September morning on Pudding Lane in the home of King’s baker. It lasted five days, swept through 400 streets, destroyed 13200 houses, 87 churches but killed only 8 people! The Great Fire of London

9 The Нouses of Parliament The famous clock Big Ben stands near the... The country’s leaders speak there. The men and women there are the voice of the British People.

10 The London Eye It is a top London attraction. It is situated on the river Thames. On a clear day you can see around 40 km. You can see over 55 of London’s main attractions.

11 Madame Tussaud’s … is a symbol of London opened in 1835. It is a wonderful exhibition of wax life-size figures of famous people.

12 Who rides through the streets of London in a splendid coach drawn by six horses on the 9th of November? New Lord Mayor

13 St. Paul’s Cathedral It is an Anglican cathedral in London. The temple is dedicated to the Apostle Paul, it today houses the residence of the Bishop of London.

14 The Tower of London It is a very old building. It is more than 900 years old. It was a fortress, a Royal residence, a prison. Now it is a museum

15 Trafalgar Square It is one of the most beautiful places in London. In the middle of the square there is a column. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument. There are two beautiful fountains in the square.

16 London Underground got such nickname because it looks like a long, narrow and dimly lit …. Tube

17 It is one of the most famous and beautiful buildings in London. There is a Poet’s Corner in this church. In 1952 Queen Elizabeth II was crowned there. Westminster Abbey

18 «When a man is tired of London he is tired of life» This saying is now very well known but it is still true.
