The work “La gare Saint Lazare” was painted in 1877 by french painter Claude Monet (1840- 1926). Claude Monet

In 1877, moving to Nouvelle Athènes, Claude Monet asks for the right to work in the Saint-Lazare rail station. It was the perfect place to look for different bright effects,to study the move of the subject, the steam clouds, and a modern pattern. The painting is pure. Some parts are abstract. This work was appreciate by Gustave Caillebotte, another modern french painter,despite he had a completly opposite style of Monet. The technique used is oil painting on a canvas. The golden ratio and his work He built his work using the 2-4-8 system of the golden ratio. The iron frame is in the middle of the width, which is equal to the half of the painting and goes on the horizontal median. The train and its steam are aligned under it and the lower quarts begin on the left of the wagon and on the right of the smokestack.
