NIV Revelation 21:10-14,22-23 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. (Beautifully pure) 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. (Completely safe) On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. (Perfectly filled with the redeemed.)

NIV Revelation 21:10-14,22-23 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. (Solidly founded on the Word of God) 22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. (Well lighted by the Lamb of God)

Which kind of home would mom love? This kind  or This kind >

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home The Scripture says, “The tongue of the righteous is choice silver.” Unfortunately our tongues are too often raw sewage. Solomon writes in Proverbs 10:19, “When words are many, sin is not absent.” Sometimes we just talk too much. “Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?” (1 Corinthians 6:9)

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home The things which make our homes impure now, will not be in heaven. Citizens of heaven think only pure thoughts, speak only clean words and live only holy lives. No cheating. No scandal. We must be cleansed, given a bath, in order to live with the Lord in heaven. The blood of Jesus Christ has purified us from all sin. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home A Christian mother loves her family’s home to be clean and well kept, modeled after our eternal home. Let us make our homes places where we thank God for our salvation in Christ and show our gratitude through purity in thought, word and deed.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home 2. Completely safe. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. Throughout much of history cities had walls for safety. In the Old West forts had walls. Ancient Jerusalem was protected by a wall.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home Walls are not foolproof. Fools are too ingenious. Jericho’s walls came tumblin’ down. Flaming arrows burned the walls of forts. The airplane and missile made city walls obsolete as defensive weapons. God’s heavenly city has perfect safety. It is pictured as the perfect wall. John sees it as a wall of 12,000 stadia (1,400 miles) height, width and length. He sees it 216 feet thick. That should do it!!

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home Mothers would love perfectly safe homes for themselves and their families, where no dangers lurk, where no one wants to break in or do harm. In Jesus there is safety in our homes. The gates of hell will not prevail against his people. No one snatches his sheep from his hand.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home 3. Perfectly filled with the redeemed. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 13 The Perfect Model for the Christian Home Heaven is going to be buzzing with people. The imagery is consistent throughout Revelation that the 12 tribes = the complete number of the redeemed. And they come from all directions, from all over the world.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home A home full of lots of family is great. Especially great is a home full of Christians all the time.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home 4. Solidly founded on the Word of God. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home Ephesians 2:19-20. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home Even in heaven God’s people will still exist and rest secure on the Word of the Lord. God’s Word endures forever. Sometimes here we do not take God’s Word seriously enough. But when we build our homes on the Word, we are doing a heavenly thing.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home 5. Well lighted by the Lamb of God. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home What great news this Light is for a world in which people try to hide their crimes under the cover of darkness. Our mission in the world is first to expose the deeds of darkness, including our own and then come into the Light of Jesus by faith.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home John 3:20-21 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.“ Because of Jesus, there is nothing to hide. Even now we live for that eternal city in which we will bask in the light of Christ.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home A Christian home is not perfect, but is so blessed when sins are faced and confessed, apologies made, and forgiveness found in Christ.

The Perfect Model for the Christian Home 1. Beautifully pure. 2. Completely safe. 3. Perfectly filled with the redeemed. 4. Solidly founded on the Word of God. 5. Well lighted by the Lamb of God.
