Winter MAP Testing February 4 to February 22 Grades K-10 First time for grades K, 1, 2, and 9 Teachers are excited to use the results to better meet the needs of the students in their classes

Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) Adequate, acceptable, affordable health care for all employees FTE Requirements Less than 50 FTE employees, no requirements More than 50 FTE employees, all requirements apply Pender has more than 50 FTE employees Employers must provide an affordable and minimum value health care option for employees Affordable = employee can’t be asked to contribute more than 9.5% of gross earnings towards health insurance Expectations are met for certified employees Expectations are nearly met for classified employees Minimum Value = EHA plan we have in place meets requirements Deductible < $2,000 Open enrollment option each year

Legislative Update Early in the session School finance is a hot topic TEEOSA, SPED Funding, NPERS Budget Authority NPERS Superintendent Compensation State Aid Certification Date – June 1 Income Tax Proposal – Governor Heineman

Driver’s Education Mr. Conroy plans to teach Driver’s Education for the last time during the summer of 2013 As a district, it is important to find an individual willing to teacher the course Interested person, any other interested people are encouraged to speak to me

Candidates for Open Positions 24 Candidates for Elementary Opening(s) 20 Candidates for Social Studies Opening 4 Candidates for Guidance Counselor Opening I am confident we can fill all three positions with quality educators from this pool of candidates I am also confident we can fill our head football coaching position from either this pool of candidates or by hiring someone on staff or in the community
