NWCS Issues Burden: –Processing –Time wasted when data appears to differ Local update processes uncertain – no guarantee that all PCTs / HIS are applying correctly Application of tariffs uncertain (though some known cases of error) No reliable national data source for use by DH, HC or Audit Commission

Backlog The existence of a backlog had major impact on the use of SUS in 05/06 – particularly for PCTs Now cleared – all senders now in “business as usual” mode, by which errors are notified of error immediately Note: failures block queues

Extracts Extracts in 05/06 contained a number of mapping errors, limiting value. –Now resolved and new fields added Initial (and interim) Q1 06/07 extracts were problematic, with resulting delays in production –Problems now fully resolved –BT now producing in 6 working days – aim to reduce to 4 wd (7 elapsed days) Schedule of interim reports to be agreed
