Bannock : near Dillon, has been preserved to look as it did in 1865, when it was one of the nation's richest gold cam ps. National parks: A number of national forests lie either entirely or partly in Montana. The largest of these forests are Beaverhead-Deerlodge, Flathead, Gallatin, Kootenai, Lewis and Clark, and Lolo. The others are Bitterroot, Custer, Deerlodge, Helena, and Kaniksu.

Montana's first schools were started in mining camps in early 1860s. They had private teachers who charged tuition. In late 1900s: 1972, Montana voters narrowly approved a new state constitution. The states grain and meat were in demand, and its copper and other metals were used in the effort.
