2 Path Originated just west of the Cayman Islands on August 14. Hit Cuba as a Category 3 on August 15. On August 17 th it made land fall along the Mississippi Coast as a Category 5. Moved through Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia before moving to the Atlantic on August 20 th.

4 Facts Actual Maximum sustained winds is unknown because the hurricane destroyed all wind recording instruments. Estimated wind speeds are at 200 mph along coast in Mississippi.

5 Facts Storm Surge of 24.6 ft occurred at Pass Christian, Mississippi. Average Rain fall was at 10 inches Heaviest Rain fall occurred in Virginia and dumped as much as 31 inches in a span of 5 hours causing flash flooding.
