Pronunciation ALL words in Spanish are spelled EXACTLY the way they sound. (You just have to learn how each letter sounds.) If you can pronounce it, you can spell it! Sound out words 1 SYLLABLE at a time!

Why is it that in English We’ve got words like GOOD and FOOD GOOD and FOOD READ and READ That look more or less the same but sound different? In English you can’t necessarily sound words out, but in SPANISH…

If you know “taco” And “burrito” And “Pepe” You know the vowels. There’s no exceptions, like with English vowels. This is always how they sound!

Spanish Consonants tortilla (ll = y sound) jalapeño (j = h sound, ñ = eñe sound) tequila (qu = k sound) hola (h = silent) z = s sound “i’s” and “e’s” soften “g’s” and “c’s” (the opposite of English) YOU TRY: cielo, genial, ciudad, generoso, inteligente, gracias, cero

Spanish Dipthongs *DIPTHONGS* “I” and “U” are weak They take the sound of the vowel they are next to YOU TRY: hierro, aumento, hielo, automático YOU TRY: desproporcionadisimamente
