Plague bearing Bacillus bacteria Fleas bite infected host. Carry bacteria in their blood stream Bacteria causes the flea to be incredibly hungry Rats carry the fleas, help spread the plague Flea bites rat Rat dies Fleas need to find new host to feed off Rats fed off rubbish brought rats close to humans Humans – new host Spread the plague when it mutated into the Pneumonic Plague by coughing and sneezing Task One Note down this diagram in your book Task One Note down this diagram in your book

What were the symptoms of the Bubonic Plague? Day 1 Swellings (buboes) appearing in the armpits, groin or neck Day 2 Vomiting and fever Day 3 Bleeding under the skin, which looks like severe bruising Day 4 Severe spasms – crunching up then wanting to straighten out Day 5 If a person survive this far then the buboes will burst and black fluid oozes out. Then they might survive
