Description of the disease Severe, often fatal disease in humans and nonhuman primates. It is a virus

History of the disease The first case of ebola virus out breakout occurred in the form of ebola virus hemorrhagic fever in the year, 1976 in Zaire

Symptoms Some include fever, headache, joint and muscle ache, sore throat, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain In some patients, rash, red eyes, hiccups, internal and external bleeding

Transmission Direct contact with blood and/or secretions of an infected person Objects that have been contaminated by infected secretions

Where it originated Originated from 1976. Named after a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) in Africa, where it was first recognized.

Cures or Treatments There is no standard treatment for Ebola. Patients receive supportive therapy. Types of supportive therapy are: balancing the patient’s fluids and electrolytes, maintaining their oxygen status and blood pressure, and treating them for any complicating infections.
