Remember What Worship Is? The main Hebrew word: Shacah – to bow down in obedient reverence The main Greek Word: Proskuneo – to bow down and kiss the hand of The Old English: Derived from the word worth-ship. Meaning to denote worthiness to the one receiving the honor or devotion.

Why Change Worship? Has worship become an amusement service or a service in reverence to God? Have you heard? “Worship is boring.” “We need to spice up our worship.” “I never get anything out of worship.”

What about God’s Words for Worship? One God and one guide. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Authority is vital: “not beyond the things that are written.” (1 Corinthians 4:6) Abide in the doctrine of Christ. (2 John 9) Spirit and truth (John 4:24) Do not transgress. (1 John 3:4)

Are We Ashamed of Our Worship? Do we make worship “us-centered” instead of God-centered? Who does God seel true worshippers to worship? John 4:24 Is worship a self-seeking act or a selflessness act?

Worshipping like Isaiah Isaiah’s closeness to the Father – Isaiah 6:1-8 Notice Isaiah’s encounter: Isaiah encounters the presence of God. (Isaiah 6:1-4) Isaiah looked inwardly. (Isaiah 6:5) Isaiah was cleansed. (Isaiah 6:7-8) Isaiah was recommitted because of his reverence to the Lord. (Isaiah 6:8)
