 King James Version (KJV)  31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary ; and they shall walk, and not faint.  New International Version (NIV)  31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

 V27- why are God’s people asking why they are invisible to God or disregarded by Him?  V28- He is everlasting; He created everything; He never gets tired and His knowledge has no limits  V29- He is the only real source of power to a people who desperately need it  V30- even the young, who should be naturally energetic, will weary of their own strength

 Wait, Qavah- to wait, look for, hope, expect, look eagerly for, to lie in wait for, linger for, to collect, bind together  The Lord, YHWH- the “I am”; the one who is eternally preexistant, self sufficient, who has no beginning or end - “Origin is a word that can only apply to things created. When we think of anything that has origin we are not thinking of God. God is self existent, while all created things necessarily originated somewhere at sometime. Aside from God, nothing is self caused.” - AW Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy, p32  “YHWH” means that He stands independent of anything

 Renew, Chalaph- go through, grow up, change, to go on from, to come on anew, sprout again, to change, substitute, alter, change for better  Strength, Koach- power, might, human strength, strength (of angels), power (of God), produce, wealth (of soil)

1. You and I have to look (wait, hope) for answers outside of ourselves 2. Our all is in God, Who stands in need of nothing, Who is our source for everything 3. When we wait on Him we change in ways that only He can change us 4. He gives us a strength that is not our own, will never be our own, was never meant to be our own; it is His strength in us; the source is Him; that kind of strength will never be found in self

 Prayer- you talking to God  Fasting- denying yourself food, TV, other pleasurable, time consuming things, etc.  Reading your Bible- God talking to you, meditating on scripture  Attending church- God speaking through worship, SEED, and preaching  The contemplative life- seeking God through study, solitude, fellowship with other contemplative Christians, reading thinking Christian authors

 Pride in all its various manifestations  Time- too busy  Some would rather think or worry over waiting on the Lord  It is not modeled for us- modeling is the strongest from of teaching

He [Satan] laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray. -Samuel Chadwick

 The salvation of my two oldest sons  The salvation of friends  Signs and wonders in our worship  The MVP for our church- evangelism, worship, discipleship, fellowship, missions  Direction for our church facilities- “Lord do you want us to change the building, and if so, how?”  Direction for ministry to Cuba
