If you are visiting with us today would you please fill out a Welcome Card and place it on the seat beside you to be collected following our services? Thank You. Psalm 135:3 (NASB) 3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; Sing praises to His name, for it is lovely.

Luke 24:17-22 - 17 And He said to them, "What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?" And they stood still, looking sad. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, "Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?" 19 And He said to them, "What things?" And they said to Him, "The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people, 20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him. 21 But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened. NASU

Luke 24:16 says “…they were kept from recognizing him.”

“… beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.” Luke 24:27 Acts 2:23 - this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. NASU

“I will put enmity (hatred) between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he (the offspring of a woman) will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." Genesis 3:15

Deuteronomy 18:15 where Moses declared: “The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.”

1. Moses came for the specific purpose of freeing his people from slavery 2. And Moses was sent by God to give His people a new and special covenant that would set them apart to be His Holy people.

Daniel 9:24-27 “Seventy sets of seven are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness …. Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’” Daniel 9:24-25

Isaiah 52:13-14 God tells us “See, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted. Just as there were many who were appalled at him—his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness”

1 Peter 2:24 - 24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. NASU The word translated “by His wounds” is the Greek word molop. “his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness.” Isaiah 52:13 - But many were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man. Holy Bible, New Living Translation.

“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:3-5

Throughout the Old Testament we’re repeatedly told that a Messiah was coming. He would “arrive” at approximately the year 30 A.D. He would be the offspring of a woman (not a MAN and a woman) He would be like Moses – freeing His people from slavery and creating for them a new relationship with God. He would suffer wounds and piercings And would die for the sins of mankind.

Where He’d be born What He’d look like (he had no comeliness of form) Jesus didn’t draw people to him because he was a good looking handsome man. And how He’d die

The odds of being injured by a lightning strike on any given day are only 1 in 250 million, but over the average lifetime are 1 in 9,100? The odds that the average citizen of Washington, D.C. will get "plugged, stabbed, poisoned, or bludgeoned to death" in the course of a year are only 1 in 1,681!

The probability that Jesus of Nazareth could have fulfilled even eight such prophecies would be only 1 in 10 17. That's 1 in 100, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000. One hundred quadrillion

About 500 years before Jesus was born, a man was born who we know as Buddha. About 500 years after the birth of Christ, another man came along we know as Mohammed. And yet… nobody predicted that a man like Buddha was going to come along and live like he lived, and teach like he taught and die like he died. And nobody predicted that a man like Mohammed was going to come along and live like he lived, and teach like he taught and die like he died.

“The fact is, the birth, crucifixion, and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ are celebrated worldwide by folk of every race, language, and color, every year. And believing in Jesus, they have been delivered from the most evil, disastrous, frustrating, debilitating habits and life practices possible. The real problem with Jesus Christ is not that folk can't believe in Him—but that they won't believe in Him.”
