2  Pick up the two papers from the front table.  Take out your study guide and work on questions 1-20.  Where should your backpack be? This is still a no gum class. Please dispose of it properly!

3  History Objective – We will be able to examine the boundary changes Utah underwent to become the state it is today, and why those changes occurred.  Language Objective – We will carefully create the map, using several different sources.  Behavior Objective – Work Ethic: Stay on task to finish the activity on time.

4  Utah changed a great deal from the time the Mormons arrived in Utah to becoming a state.  Why did the boundaries change so much?  We will use several maps to answer this question.

5  Follow the instructions for steps A-C.  Use small, neat handwriting for all of your labels. It will make the rest of the map easier.

7  The discovery of gold and silver in the Sierra Nevada, the Colorado Rockies, and other places in the west also affected Utah’s boarders.
