He was a great writer. Life: He was not a Jew. He was a gentile. St. Luke was never an apostle of Jesus. Spent a lot of time writing his gospel and the Acts of Apostles.

3 How did St. Luke use God’s gifts?
St. Luke used the gifts he received from God by writing the third gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. He was also a physician. He converted people to Christianity and preached about Jesus.

4 What slowed St. Luke down?
St. Luke died at the age of 84 He was not a martyr. It does not say that he was being mistreated for believing in God.

5 St. Luke’s symbol patronages
St. Luke’s symbol is the ox, because he is the patron saint of butchers. He is also the patron saint of artists, surgeons, bachelors, bookbinders, brewers, Capena, Italy, glassmakers, glass workers, gold workers, goldsmiths, Hermersdorf, Germany, lace-makers, lace workers, notaries, sculptors, and stained glass workers.

6 St. Luke’s prayer Almighty God, you inspired Your servant St. Luke the Evangelist and Physician to set forth in the gospel the love and the healing power of your Son. In faithfully detailing the humanity of Jesus, he also showed the divinity of Jesus and His genuine compassion for all human beings. May St. Luke intercede for us that we may deepen our understanding of the gospel and grow in compassion of Jesus. May his intercession enable our new parish to follow Your way and plan for us. We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

7 Why do I admire St. Luke? I liked that St. Luke used his gifts from God to write a gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. I also liked that he converted people to Christianity. St. Luke was a slave. That means he had to work vary hard during his life. Not did he have to work hard on writing two books of the bible and being a physician but he had to work hard in the field everyday. Most of all I liked that he was a very hard worker.

8 How did he become a saint?
St. Luke was canonized in the year 1669 by Pope Innocent III. He became a saint because he wrote two books of the bible (Gospel according to Luke and the Acts of the Apostles). He also converted many people to our faith. He did have some money, and he went to a good school. He was still very humble. He was not greedy. Another reason is that he used God’s gifts rightly. -Pope Innocent III

9 Important facts about St. Luke
