Projects in Process: Broadband 1. NTIA: VT Fiber Connect: 880 miles of middle mile fiber, providing services to 340+ community anchor institutions; 18% complete 2. RUS: VTEL WOW: wireless broadband, reaching 184 towns and covering virtually all unserved areas of Vermont; last mile service ; 5% complete 3. NTIA: VTEL fiber: 1 GIG FTTP in Vtel service area, 132 miles; 8% complete 4. RUS: WCVT: FTTP in 7 areas of their service territory, 100 miles, 27% complete 5. FairPoint 51: 1100 miles and 100% connectivity in 51 telephone exchanges; achieved commitment on June 30, 2011; offering ADSL speeds on their Vantage Point network ( 768 kbps/3 mbps/7 mbps/15 mbps down and 128 kbps to 1 mbps up) 6. EC Fiber: 24 miles and 100% complete, FTTP, Barnard region; 5/7/10 Mbps symmetrical household speeds. Currently in second round of private fund raising. 7. VTA: Cloud Alliance: 4 new towers for wireless broadband service in Hardwick, Plainfield, Wolcott, Woodbury; spring 2012 completion; 768 kbps to 6 mbps down/ 256 kbps to 2 mbps up 8. VTA: Hardwick Newport Fiber -40 mile fiber up, Route 14 connecting Hardwick and Newport; 2012 9. VTA: FairPoint Backroads- funded 644 Jeffersonville exchange completion; 2012 10. VTA: VTEL Backroads- adding communities of Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Westminster to Vtel WOW network; 2103 11. VTA: NCIC- tower infrastructure to support WISP, Northeast Kingdom; complete 12. US Dept of Energy: E Energy Vermont- Smart Grid, 35% complete 13. ISO NE: VELCO- 1000 miles fiber reliability for electrical distribution utilities and Smart Grid Collaborative; 51% complete 14. AOT Vermont interstate fiber conduit: initial bid for construction of 6 conduits in median of 350 miles of interstate; 2013
