Student Planners Students are responsible to write down: Homework assignments School calendar events 4 th grade class events Spelling words Reminders Teacher and parent initial

Communication If your child is absent, please send a written note or email to homeroom teacher. If we do not receive a written note within 48-hours, the absence is considered unexcused. If your child has a change in transportation, a written note must be given to homeroom teacher prior to 2:30 p.m.

Dress Code* Shorts and skirts must be between the knee and mid-thigh or longer No spaghetti straps, halter tops, or tank tops (use the 3 finger rule) No excessively loose or tight garments No sleeveless shirts for boys No wheeled shoes or flip flops * Check the HISD Handbook for a complete list located on HISD’s website!

Recess Because our school has grown so big, we are sharing the playground with 3 rd Grade Monday/Wednesday/Friday – Field and new Track Tuesday/Thursday – Big Playground

Rewards Leopard Spots Grade Level Reward each 9-weeks (voted on) 45 minute technology party. More information coming soon. Individual Awards Lunch with Teacher Rolly Chair Extra computer time Etc.

Consequences Each homeroom travels with a behavior clip chart that notes conduct by color. 9-week conduct grade is based on the number of times your student is moved to orange or red.

Austin Field Trip Our confirmed date is February 27 One-day field trip on charter buses Will travel to Capitol and Bob Bullock museum Lunch and Dinner are provided More details to come.

Homework Must have Take Home folder daily. Important documents that require parent signature may be placed in the Take Home Folder. Homework is due when teacher specifies.

Math Information Check website weekly for announcements, homework assignments, Math Journal notes, tutorials, important dates, etc. Math journal can travel between home and school daily, but it must be in class daily Homework is assigned on Mondays and DUE on Fridays If a student does not have their homework or it is not fully complete with showing their work, they will complete a Missing Assignment Report explaining why their homework is not complete No homework = Move clip down and it will be due the next class day or will be completed during recess. Math Assessments include class participation, daily assignments, quizzes, tests and small group participation.

Science/Social Studies Information Science/Social Studies Journals will remain at school unless they are needed to study for test Most work is done in class – no homework except to study for tests Science/Social Studies Assessments include class participation, daily assignments, quizzes, and tests

Spelling Information Spelling journal is to be used for homework. Children must do homework in the journal (unless using Spelling City—then they can write down that they went on the website that night) Homework is assigned on Mondays and DUE on Fridays If a student does not have their homework or it is not fully complete with showing their work, they will complete a Missing Assignment Report explaining why their homework is not complete Tic Tac Toe- Choose 3 boxes and complete by Friday No homework = Move clip down and will be due the next class day or it will be completed during recess. Spelling Assessments include tests on Friday. Homework will not be graded.

Tutorials Tutorials will begin the week of 9/15 Students will be invited into tutorials based on various criteria Parents will sign a permission slip form Reading Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (pick up must be prompt) Math Tuesdays and Thursday 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (pick up must be prompt)

Parent Volunteers If you would like to be a classroom helper, copy room helper, Junior Achievement helper, and/or room parent, please let us know at your earliest convenience and we will forward your information to PTO.
