1 9R9R 9L 08/25/11 08/24/11 OQC HW: Which Organelle Would you like to be? Explain why. Write a 4-5 sentence paragraph that explains which organelle you would like to be and why. Use your vocabulary words. Due next class. Do Now: Which is the least important organelle? Write a 4-5 sentence paragraph that explains which organelle is the LEAST important to the survival of the cell. Give 3 reasons. Explain what the organelle does, doesn’t do, its size, shape, and characteristics. Use page 7L from your notebook. Answer: They are ALL equally important!!!! Each has a special job that is needed for the cell. No one organelle is more or less important than the others. All 12 organelles work together and are interdependent…like us!!!

Vocabulary: 1.Organism—page 4R 2.Cell—page 4R 3.Homeostasis--page 4R 4. Cell Theory—an explanation of the relationship between cells and organisms 5. Organelles = small parts inside a cell that work together to keep it alive Title: Organelles You Do: Organelle Chart p. 89-94

Use your vocabulary words. Due next class. Do Now: Which is the least important organelle? Write a 4-5 sentence paragraph that explains which organelle out of the 12 is the LEAST important to the survival of the cell. Give 3 reasons why. Explain what the organelle does, doesn’t do, its size, shape, and characteristics. Use page 89-94 from the book and page 7L from your notebook. Find Someone Who…

8 9R “Find Someone Who…” (Use p. 7L to help you remember) 1.Can draw a mitochondria Name___________________ 2. Can explain the function of the nucleus Name__________________ 3. Can explain how things get in and out of the cell Name___________________ 4. Knows which 2 organelles are only in plant cells Name___________________ 5. Knows which organelle gives the animal cell its shape Name__________________ 6. Knows which organelle does photosynthesis Name___________________ 7. Knows which organelle is the storage for the cell Name___________________ 8. Can draw a ER with ribosomes Name__________________ 9. Knows who in the cell does the same job as Ms. Nolasco (custodian) does in the school Name___________________ The cell membrane lets good stuff in and keeps bad stuff out. Name: Amy G.

10 9R Magic Square of Cells  A and B are partners, C and D are partners Which team will get the magic number first??? Read the directions carefully!

11 Rally Robin B and D will go first  they should have the paper and pen Turn the paper over to the other side You will silently take turns to fill out one box at a time from the table of organelles SILENTLY, raise your hand when you are finished and ready for me to come and check your work

12 LAST GAME IS…. QUIZ, QUIZ, TRADE!!! Each person gets a card with a “ Who am I?” riddle with the answer on the back Goal: To correctly guess 10 of the cards and be the first to sit down.

13 Quiz #1—Organisms, Cell theory, and Organelles Please get out a half sheet of paper and set it up with full name, date, period, and title.
