D ETERMINING Y OUR C ONFLICT S TYLE Collaborative Communicate with people they are in conflict with Don’t expect win-lose but seek balance Achieves mutually agreed solutions but parties can live with Comfort with self and others

R ESULTS OF CONFLICT Positive Higher quality decisions because of intense effort A sense of ownership for decisions and a great commitment Individuals engage in deeper thinking and stronger communication Addressing conflict successfully can result in reduced conflict in the future Negative People can withdraw from communication when they see conflict ”looming” Some situations get ignored instead of addressed People make generalizations about the beliefs of others Both professional and personal relationships can suffer if conflict is not addressed
