2.  Imagine as administrators and teachers how far our students could be if no matter what subject we taught, we enforced the reading skills needed to be successful.

3.  …it is teaching reading strategies in all classrooms, not just in the reading or language arts classrooms.

4.  Research suggests that the skills learned by the children in reading classes do not always transfer to their content course such as science, social studies, and math.  For this reason, students must learn how to apply multiple reading strategies across the curriculum so that they can meet challenges presented in reading content texts.

9.  According to Steve Peha (2003) 90% of reading comes from within the language art portion of elementary school day.  When students move on to middle and high school.
