Core Extension Period

Core Extension Models 6 day Core Extension Reading & Writing Most of the student population OR…3 day Core Extension Reading & Writing and: AGP Challenge, or Math Remediation, or Resource OR…6 day Remedial Math/Resource Assessments are used to determine which instruction best meets a student’s needs. Placements may be adjusted throughout the year to respond to individual needs.

What is the goal of 1 st Marking Period? Teach students how to interact with non-fiction text. What is important? What is the author trying to tell us? It is NOT necessarily about the CONTENT. It’s about interacting with non-fiction text and the author of the text. It’s about reading with specific purpose.
