FORMING THE IMPERFECT 1.If the verb has an “a” (e.g. salūtat); add -āba- + personal ending (m/s/t/nt) Example: salūtat salūt salūtāba salūtābat

FORMING THE IMPERFECT 2. If the verb ends in “e” (e.g. sedet) or “i” (e.g. agit); add -ēba- + personal ending Examples: sedet agit sed ag sedēba agēba sedēbat agēbat

FORMING THE IMPERFECT 3. If the verb has an “i” infection (e.g. venit) same as #2 except the “i” stays Example: venit veni veniēba veniēbat

FORMING THE IMPERFECT 3. The verb “sum” is irregular looking in the imperfect. Note that: est changes to erat sunt changes to erant

FORMING THE PERFECT If the verb is singular: Example: vōmitat 1. Go to where the “-t” is and remove it vōmitat vōmita- 2. Add a “-v-” vōmitāv- 3. Add “-it” (the perfect personal ending for 3 rd sg) vōmitāvit

FORMING THE PERFECT If the verb is plural: Example: vōmitant 1. Go to where the “-nt” is and remove it vōmitant vōmita- 2. Add a “-v-” vōmitāv- 3. Add “- ērunt ” (the perfect personal ending for 3 rd pl) vōmitāvērunt
