3 Absolutism –Idea that Kings have Divine Rights. (Total Power) Divine Right is that the King’s Power has been bestowed upon him from God. This person is between the common man and God. –Make laws, levy taxes, administer justice, control all aspects of Government

4 Absolutism Absolutism in Europe –Prussia and Austria are now great European powers after Thirty Years War –Prussia – Frederick William the Great Elector –Austria- Hapsburgs

13 Peter The Great –Pushed for technology like the rest of Europe –Takes over Russia in 1689 –Built Army and Navy for Russia –Created a “Police State” –Taught proper manners to promote a better Russia
